The guards would not let me out of the main terminal to get something to drink or eat – I had no local currency. Finally I produced my United States of America Passport and read it out loud to the guards supervisor who spoke English – I said you are requested to render aid to me by my Federal government – I can not drink the water from your fountains – I have no local currency to purchase food – you must help me.
Finally he understood and they arranged for me to go to the money changer which was open all night but no access granted from the International travel areas. The guards escorted me there and back – I asked them – what did they think I was going to do? Steal a staircase? The money changers seeing my camera asked me if I was a journalist. The answer to that question was clearly "yes".
