Of all of the late night television personalities, the guys out there on the tube at one in the morning telling you that you can make money and get fit and extend a certain part of your anatomy, one of the few who’s really on the level is probably Matthew Lesko. Of course, even so, anyone with a ridiculous suit and an infomercial, well, you’re probably going to be thinking it’s a scam, right?
Well we’re glad to report that he is, in fact, on the level. If you’re willing to invest some time into looking through his massive, phone book size volumes on government grants, then you are likely to find something you qualify for. Not everyone qualifies for everything in the book, but there are so many different opportunities listed that you’re very likely to find something.
It may also be worth noting that Lesko actually drives around in that Riddler suit of his now and then when going about his business in his hometown, and, get this, drives a Lexus covered in yellow question marks, so… It’s difficult to accuse the “FREE MONEY FROM THE GOVERNMENT!” guy to even be a “character” he plays, because… That’s really how he dresses a lot of the time.
There are some who have accused Matt Lesko of plagiarism, but this accusation is a little odd. Lesko does research information that’s publicly available to everyone, he does compile his books directly from government texts on the subject, and he himself has even admitted that he doesn’t pay a dime for any of the info that goes into these books.
But, is this any different from, say, a researcher who goes to a library and compiles a hundred years of the research of others into a smaller, digestible volume? Browsing through Lesko’s book is a lot easier than doing all of the research on your own, at the very least.
Whatever criticisms levied at Matthew Lesko and his ridiculous suit, the final verdict was probably best summed up in an episode of the animated series “The Venture Brothers”, when his “villainous” question mark suit was shown to contrast his nature as a “good guy” who “helps people get free cash from the government”, so, you know, he can’t be ALL bad, right? However crazy his infomercials, the information is actually sound.
